Budget Overview – Fiscal Year 2025-2026

Welcome to the budget section of the Finance Department’s website. Here you will find the detailed budget papers for Fiscal Year 2025-2026, providing comprehensive information on the Government’s financial plans and priorities.

This year’s budget is presented under the theme: “Leveraging Opportunities for Growth,” which acknowledges Nauru’s unique structural challenges as a small island nation. This budget prioritizes the development of innovative methodologies to transform our pathway to prosperity, focusing on a People First Approach that prioritises investment in Education and Health.

The 2025-2026 budget assumes total revenue of $358.59 million, with total expenditure carefully managed at $358.56 million. This balanced budget, amongst other prudent measures provided in detail in the Budget Paper 1, reflects the government’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and sustainable financial management.

The budget papers cover detailed information on:

  • Economic outlook and underlying assumptions
  • Revenue projections and sources
  • Expenditure allocations across various sectors (e.g., health, education, infrastructure)
  • Key policy initiatives and their financial implications

We encourage you to explore all the budget documents to gain a deeper understanding of the Government financial strategy and commitment to the well-being of all Nauruans:

–          Budget Speech,

–          Budget Paper 1,

–          Budget Paper 2

–          Development Fund Projections under the Planning and Aid section, providing Development partners commitments to the developments of the country

As in the last financial year, a Supply Budget was in place from 1 July to give the Government time to finalize key negotiations that determine key figures for main appropriation. The period from 1 July 2025 to 31 July 2025 was covered by a Supply Act which authorised expenditures from the Treasury Fund for a maximum of three months. Expenditures made under the authority of the Supply Act will be charged against the full-year appropriation Act.
